Profile summary

Lucien van Beek (PhD Leiden University, 2013) is a linguist working on the Ancient Indo-European languages, with a special focus on the linguistics and philology of Ancient Greek. He has published extensively on Greek and Indo-European etymology and morphology. Further interests include all facets of the Homeric epics (their formulaic language, history of the text, etc.), Mycenaean texts and their context, and the reconstruction of Indo-European culture and institutions. He is also Project Manager of the Ancient Greek-Dutch Dictionary (ed. I. Sluiter et al.). He teaches in the BA and MA programmes of Linguistics and Classics at Leiden University.
